Arrival

... by train:

Starting central station of Essen you can take the tram 106 or 107 with destination "Rathaus Essen". The stop where to get off (second stop) is named "Viehofer Platz". Take the exit in the direction of the tram's front and turn left.

You can alternativly walk here from the central station through the pedestrian precinct. It will take you about 10 minutes time.

... by car:

If you come from the east from the A40, take the exit "Essen-Frillendorf" then go along Frillendorfer Straße till the second traffic lights appear. Turn right into Burggrafenstraße, then at the second traffic lights turn left into Gerlingstraße. After the second traffic lights you will see on the buildings of the University of Essen (block tower and the old building on the right, the SGW building on the left).

If you come from the west from the A40 you can already leave the motorway at exit "Zentrum" or "Huttrop" and follow the signs to Zentrum/Universität. If you arrive from the A52 from Düsseldorf please take the exit "Essen-Süd" and follow the signs to the University of Essen (not Universitätsklinikum). The building of the University of Essen is on the right side where you have passed the very high administrational building.

... by plane:

The nearest airports are Düsseldorf (50km West) and Dortmund (50km East). From Düsseldorf airport there are trains (RE1, RE6, RE11, S1) to Essen central station. Furthermore see "Arrival by train".
